How would you describe the work you do and why?:

I enjoy working with individual hand made items, from my own workshop and studio near Hay-on-Wye

For you what does being an artist mean?:

By combining sustainable materials and craft skills this range of steam bent coppice wood furniture items shows how, through design, the simple lines and forms become structures with functional outcomes.

Describe what you call yourself/your practice?:

As a furniture designer I produce practical, aesthetic, and ethical solutions to the creation of space and objects

Your practice & activities include e.g workshops, teaching:

In addition to the individual hand made ‘New Shoots’ furniture range on exhibition, I work on commissions as a furniture designer/maker/consultant, often working in collaboration on a range of projects.

CV & Education, relevant & leading to your artistic practice:

Since my formal training (including MDes RCA) I have many years experience, having worked as a professional designer with a variety of practices, including architects, interior designers, private clients and industry. Until recently I also taught art and design locally and as a visiting lecturer elsewhere.
