Details
I am a documentary photographer. I make pictures that capture moments and tell stories. My subject is the world that surrounds me, particularly people and the natural and man-made landscapes within which they live and work. My interest in heritage, stories and change over time informs my work. My eye is drawn to shape, light, pattern and form.
As an artist I observe, capture and share. I am the observer; the camera captures; the photograph shares.
Photographer
I am self-taught photographer. I held my first camera at around the age of 8; bought my first photography book at the age of 15; and was first aware of the work of other photographers at the age of 16 when I visited an exhibition by Josef Koudelka in London. I have learned, and continue to shape, my craft through studying the work and craft of other artists and technicians; through trial and error; and through inviting feedback and critique from peers and other observers.
