Caroline H Green

How would you describe the work you do and why?:

Painting, drawing

I work in a variety of mediums, from oils, watercolours, mixed media and pen and ink. I like to work to different scales; the larger pieces painted with dynamic strong brushstrokes using colour to create lively pieces. My subject matter varies from landscapes, buildings to animals but with each subject I try to convey the particular characteristic of the subject matter.

For you what does being an artist mean?:

To paint or draw is so much a part of me. It enables me to lose myself in the work, always striving to find different methods in which to portray a particular subject. I enjoy experimenting and allowing the medium to sensitively describe my approach. A different method is utilised with my children’s books where I have an idea of how my little dog will respond to situations and my work is far more illustrative as a result.
